To My Child Unknown
If I could ever have a daughter I would love for her name to be Genesis. According to religion the name means in the beginning, or simply the first. Would she have strong genes like her father? Will she have stunning beauty like her mother? Will I see her take her first steps? Will she call for me with her first words? God only knows.
Everybody knows that my generation has gone berserk. I don't want to know the status of hers. You have to remember that she comes from a people of sharp intellect but sensitive emotions. In other words would she fall into the haunted traps of the world due to her quick sensitive emotions? Mind you it's always been tough on women but baby girl is somehow going to have to suck it up.
Will she be fierce enough to shut down any sorry excuse for a man that wants to grab her buttock? She better. Throughout history (which would include my generation) women have reached new heights in all the areas in everyday activities. From housewives, police officers, educators, lawyers, and even politicians women are just as equal to men. This should be a real confidence booster for her.
It's this fact and this fact alone that wouldn't surprise me if she would be a member of the LGBTQ community. Why? Simply because men will do anything to anyone to monopolize traits for themselves in whatever position that their in. I'm hear to tell you baby girl to beware of this, please.
Although I don't know you or will ever have the chance to. I would like to tell you to please be strong whatever the hell you go through on this earth. Resist anything or everything that doesn't reflect your values. Stay true to you and nobody else. Remember you have a responsibility that will never be lifted off you back. It's the same responsibility that's on my back, your grandma's back, many before her. I currently pay my dues by being a student and a freelance journalist. Your grandma is through social work. however yours shall be a mystery.
I love you and I'll see you in my dreams, my child unknown.- Circa 2017
